Year 6 Class

Year 6

Year 6 is a challenging, yet rewarding final year at St Mary's and we welcome Mrs Burn as the new Class Teacher in Year 6 and who shares the teaching role with Mrs Woodhouse, a member of the Senior Management Team and as Deputy Headteacher also has responsibility for English throughout the school.

Highly experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant Mrs Clark works in the classroom alongside both teachers, supporting them in all areas of teaching and learning.

Father Benedict, our Parish Priest, supports the Catholic pupils in Year 6 undertaking the holy sacrament of Confirmation in the Summer Term.

Pupils in Year 6 have many opportunities and amongst other things: can represent the school in inter-school sports competitions; join our vibrant cooking club; can be involved in music, orchestra and singing in the school choir. Year 6 pupils also can become prefects and house captains which provides them with opportunities to take on added responsibilities and can take a position working in the HSBC school bank which operates weekly.

In the Summer Term Year 6 pupils visit PGL on a three-day residential course. Here they enjoy fun activities including outdoor team sports, water sports and other challenging activities.

It is vitally important that the children are taught to keep themselves safe in all circumstances. Please click on the links below to see when and how our children will be taught about Safeguarding through the curriculum.
